If any of the students would be interested in continuing to train and play in these sports over the summer he can get in touch with people who might be interested in coming in and coaching/running these sports over the summer holidays.

Sr. Badminton - Provincial RESULTS

This year, the senior badminton team had 10 athletes qualify to compete at Provincials held in Lloydminster, AB on May 1st & 2nd  Our athletes had a stellar showing this year, capturing an all-around banner for 2A schools, and  2 medals. Anyone watching this weekend can certainly tell you there was no shortage of pride in our athletes!

All competitors this year  were doubles teams. They were;

Senior Mixed Doubles - Amber  Eaton  and  Matthew Thomas

Intermediate Mixed Doubles" - Danielle McKinnon and Stuart Caldwell

Junior Mixed Doubles - Lauren Sigurdson and Josh Serediak

Junior Girls- Lacey Berry and  Stephanie Williams

Junior Boys - Connor Johnson and  Braeden L'Hirondelle

Our athletes performed remarkably well.  The efforts of all our competitors were rewarded with Hillside capturing the overall2A Banner for most points achieved - with 19 total points. The next closest school accumulated 8 points.

Although not making it out of their pool, Amber and  Matthew faced previous provincial medallists and  they played very well in their pool.

Danielle and  Stuart were competing at the Intermediate level, however, are technically juniors. Again, they did not  make it out of their pool, but were able  to win one match in their  first ever  Provincial competition.

Connor and  Braeden advanced from their  pool to the semi-finals, where they narrowly missed capturing a bronze medal, but definitely left it all out  on the court!

Lacey and Stephanie played exceptionally well and  were able to secure a Bronze Medal for their  efforts.

Lauren and  Josh also played exceptionally well.  They competed in the gold  medal match {the only match that they took to three sets all weekend), and  came home with a Silver Medal.

Congratulations to all athletes and  a huge thank-you to the coaches; Mr. Albin Shelly, Ms. Sue Schilperoort, and  Ms. Kelsey Johnson.
